Knightlite TestTaker Version 1.0

Administers Multiple Choice Tests Created With

Knightlite's TestMaker 3.0

Knightlite TestTaker Version 1.0 is a software package developed by Knightlite Software as a way for students, teachers, government agencies, and corporations to be able to administer multiple choice tests. Multiple choice tests are created with Knightlite TestMaker Version 3.0 . In the Deluxe version of TestMaker they are converted to a file called ktt.mdb. This file can then be copied to any computer running the TestTaker software. These files can be sent over the internet, or stored on disk.

For Example: A company in Connecticut would like to give a training test to individuals working at a sister company in California. The training test is quickly created in Connecticut using Knightlite TestMaker 3.0. The test question files are converted by TestMaker to the ktt.mdb file. This ktt.mdb file can then be e-mailed to the sister company in California where the test file can be copied to TestTaker 1.0. TestTaker is a free software program that can be downloaded from the Knightlite Software website. The employees can then take the test. Once they have completed the test, they then save the results to a small file, and e-mails it back to Connecticut in just a matter of minutes. The test results file can be read by TestMaker 3.0. These results can be printed out as well.

The Software:

The splash screen can be edited so that you can change the screen colors and the captions in the top two boxes. You can enter your own titles, and subtitles.

Captions, and screen colors are edited in this window. You can set these controls either in TestMaker or TestTaker. You can also change the splash screen interval in this window.

You have the option of letting the user read and/or print out instructions before taking the test. The instructions may tell them which tests to take, and where to send the test results once they have completed the test.

You also have the option to require the user to fill out an information form, that will be saved with the test results.

This is the Table of Contents window. The labeled buttons contain questions. The unlabeled buttons are empty. There are two sets of 21 question banks that can be accessed.

Chapters can be locked using the Lock Chapter window. Again empty spaces indicate that there are no questions in these chapters.

The main testing window. Users can see the chapter name, question number, date, and time. The user answers questions by clicking on an option button in front of the potential answer. They can change their minds by clicking on another option button. The last button clicked will be the one recorded. The user can then move to the next question using the VCR keys at the bottom of the screen. You can move to the first question or the last question by clicking on the First and Last buttons. The user can scroll back and forth using the Back and Next buttons. Test results are recorded by clicking the Save button.

Depending on password access, the user can see the test results in the print preview window.

TestTaker comes with a great many options for controlling how much access the user has to the editing controls. A Global Password can be assigned so that the user can not access any of the editing controls. A Disk Access Password is needed to open saved ktt files. Editing Passwords can also be assigned once the software has been installed.

Allow Access To Test Bank II

This option lets the user have access to the second set of 21 chapters. By unchecking the box, the button that allows user access to Test Bank II will be hidden.

Require User To Sign In

Checking this box will require the user to fill out the Information Form before they are allowed to take the test. This will eliminate the chance that you will receive tests without a user's name and address on it.

User Can See Answer

Permits the user to see if he/she has answered the question correctly. The status box on the test page will show Correct, or Incorrect, when an answer is chosen. By unchecking this box, the status box will state either Question Unanswered or Question Answered depending on if the user has answered the question or not.

Require Password To Edit

Checking this box will require the user to have a general password to access any of the printing controls, or option controls. An unchecked box will open up the menu, so that all menu items are visible. See Passwords in online help for more information.

Show Directions On Startup

When this box is checked, a Instructions window will pop up when the program begins. The user or ADMIN can edit this file. Use this to give your user instructions as to which chapter they are to use. Access passwords can be given here if you want your user to have access to all the features of the software. These instructions can be printed out for later reference.

Randomize Test Questions

When checked the questions will be randomized. When unchecked, the questions will be asked in the same order they were entered in TestMaker 3.0.

Time Test

When checked, TestTaker can time your test for you, so that your user only has a certain amount of time to complete the test. You simply enter an integer that represents how many minutes you would like the test timed. A small window will appear on the test screen which will tell the user how much time remains. The Time window will be updated every minute.

Select Size Of Test

When checked you can enter how many questions you want your user to answer. For instance, if you wanted the user to take the first 15 CPR questions from the 25 that are included here, simply enter 15. If you want the software to randomize all 25 questions, and then select 15 questions, simply check the Randomize Questions box as well.
