Photo shows the top of the Stockbridge Side Table. This top has some beautiful grain in it. It was made from three pieces of cherry that are glued up. All pieces came from the same board.

The Stockbridge Side Table has always been one of our most popular furniture designs. The basic "Look" of that table has been adapted to make sofa tables, writing tables, coffee tables, dining tables, nightstands and almost any conceivable table design one can think of.
The design is a Redway Original and was inspired by the small town of Stockbridge Massachusetts where our family has enjoyed a weekend getaway since I was a child. Stockbridge is best known as sort of the cultural center of New England outside of Boston. It was the home of popular illustrator Norman Rockwell. The statue of Lincoln in the Lincoln Memorial was created at Chesterwood in Stockbridge. It borders the town of Lenox where the Boston Symphony makes it's summer home at Tanglewood. Even Arlo Gutherie shot his movie Alice's Restaurant in the town of Stockbridge.
The Stockbridge Side Table is made of solid American
Black Cherry. It is constructed with double pinned mortise and tenon joinery.
The basic look of the table is that of what I would call a refined country
look. It is like getting all dressed up and going on a picnic. For those
who like the clean lines of American furniture, but want their furniture
to be more refined than Shaker.
The Stockbridge Side
Table makes an excellent side table next to a chair or sofa. The design
easily blends into a variety of room styles.
